Chef/Owner Tara Thomas

Tara Thomas is a successful chef and restaurateur with many achievements under her apron. Since 1997, she has made her mark as the "conductor" of TRAXX taking the route of multi-national cuisine by way of local civic pride. Starting in 1992, she made a name for herself as the former Chef and Co-owner of 410 BOYD, where she became a shining star in Los Angeles' downtown arts district. She added to her growing reputation by cultivating an influential corporate catering business. The Los Angeles Downtown News named her "BEST CATERER," for three consecutive years of wowing the city's business luminaries and leaders with her signature dishes.

Tara's accomplishments in recent years are underscored by her passion for Los Angeles and commitment to the downtown area's rebirth.

Tara brings a literal world of experience to the mix of downtown. Before she graduated with honors from the California Culinary Academy, she began her career with a two-ears stint at the then five-star, five-diamond Harrah's Lake Tahoe Resort. Later, she accepted a six-month assignment at Trattoria Blaust in Lavoriano, Italy. Upon returning to the states, she headed the hospitality and in-house entertaining divisions at two California wineries, Domain Carneros and Calera. But it was the 19-month tenure at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in San Francisco that allowed her to cultivate her own restaurant management philosophy, drawing upon the hotel's standard-setting management style.

Since opening TRAXX in 1997, Tara has garnered culinary plaudits from such publications as Gourmet, Food & Wine, The Los Angeles Times, The Los Angeles Downtown News and Where, to name a few. In addition, she has appeared on local television as well as on NBC's "TRAVEL CAFE".
